Living the high life in Vegas baby!

I was offered an amazing opportunity with work in March. And that was the chance to go to the MillerCoors national convention in Las Vegas! Alright, so maybe I am a dork but the convention itself was awesome! Great moral booster speeches, top of the line innovation, sneak peeks at the newest marketing campaigns, and of course every one's favorite...product sampling! But most of that is hush hush so let's skip to the celebrities and the product sampling.

If I had to choose an all time favorite "extremely affordable" beer of choice it would hands down be Miller High Life. I like to think that I'm living the high life everyday. I'm fortunate enough to have a super supportive family, an amazing group of close friends, a job that challenges me but I never dread walking into each day, and an overall healthy attitude about life. So if you've ever seen a Miller High Life commercial....and I'm sure you have....here is Windell

I'm pictured here star struck with Windell and my big brother Tim
But as it turns out Windell wasn't the only celebrity hanging around. Keith Stone the original smooth operator from the new Keystone Light commercials decided to make an appearance with his kick ass camero. I even cheers him with his smooth beer of choice, Keystone Light.

Keith Stone and me (and a Keystone Light girl to hold our extra stones!)

Next, who else would you expect to run into in Vegas but a very tall woman dressed like a glitter bumblebee and wearing roller skates. OK so this girl isn't a celebrity. In fact I didn't even catch her name. But who cares. Did I mention she was dressed like a bumblebee?! With all this glitter she fit right in.

Enjoying a Sparks Lemon Stinger with my new friend I will call "Bumblebee Betty"

This took me the twangy end of the beer scale. (Not exactly a beer but a flavored malt beverage but who's counting.) The Sparks Lemon Stinger tasted just like a twangy lemonade or perhaps a lemon jolly rancher with fizz. If you stop to think about it you will already know this fact... Here are the FACTS: beverages in this Flavored Malt Beverage category are constantly coming out with the new "hot" flavor of the season. Some of the current "in" flavors are Lemonade, Pomegranate, Mango, and mixtures like Cranberry and Lime.

Now in all fairness I was at a MillerCoors convention so along with all the other brands I have mentioned it is obvious that I consumed quite a few Miller Lites; more specifically in their new and improved Aluminum pint bottles! I'm pictured below with a co-worker that does so many things we cannot even come up with a job title that does him justice! Thanks for all your help Bob and for sharing a stogie with me in Vegas!

Again, I say I was very fortunate to be able to go to this convention. I stayed awake for nearly 3 days and hit most of the high spots of Vegas. I enjoyed great company, excellent food, walked on the strip, gambled just enough to be dangerous, and lost all track of time and whether it was day or night! If only we could have made it to Pawn Stars...

(Oh and by the way I won an iphone for my ideas on how to promote responsible drinking!):)

A real beer Holiday!

I've attempted to start this blog many times but one busy moment after another and I it's been MONTHS since I have actually sat down to post things. With that said - I have tons of pictures dating back most of the year that deserve their moment in the spotlight on this blog. So getting right down to it I'll start at the official beer Holiday, Saint Patrick's Day 2010. And you guessed it...here comes the Guinness.

I'm seen here at one of our favorite local pubs "A.J. McMurphy's". And yes I'm enjoying an authentic Guinness poured slowly to perfection.

Let it be known that I enjoy all beers great and small, light or dark, smooth or twangy. With that said - I LOVE GUINNESS! Guinness is thick, rich, and creamy and I would say an acquired taste for the way it fills up your mouth. I very rarely pass up the opportunity to drink a Guinness poured from draught. Most people will tell you that guinness fills them up and that they can't drink more than one or two per sitting. However, I am not one of those people and have no problem drinking them all night long.

Here are the FACTS: Guinness is not actually a strong beer - but rather has a slightly lower alcohol content that most premium light beers that you drink (i.e. Miller Lite or Yuengling). They say the perfect pint of Guinness (served in it's special slightly tuliped glass that is not pictured here) takes at the least 5 minutes to pour from draught. This is because the gases required for the pour actually do make it look alive inside as the head settles on top. And their is a fine art of pouring 3/4...then settling...then topping the glass and in some cases drawing a unique design in the head! Guinness is a beer that is best not served ever from a pitcher but severely crowded bars with limited staff requires desperate measures.

(I think Valeda just said "I'll drink to that!")

No beer...no problem

So this is me - Becky - and unfortunately at this moment I have no beer. But that's all about to change!
